About World Food Garden

WorldFoodGarden.org is a map-based website whose mission is to connect all of the food gardens in the world onto one map to show the world for what it has the potential to be- one giant cross-pollinating ecosystem filled up with food gardens! In addition we provide location specific gardening information, networks and get started tutorials.

Given today's inter-relationships between food transport, carbon emissions, and oil dependence, we believe that much of the world's environmental, economic, and political issues could be alleviated if everyone in the world tended their own small food garden. Gardening is a resource we all have the right to use to keep our minds, bodies and planet healthy. One window-box tomato plant may not change the world alone, but collectively, a world full of small food gardens could make a huge differance.

WorldFoodGarden.org was begun as a self funded project and is now being maintained and enhanced by a few volunteers working together remotely from across the globe. That said, the volunteer's time is sparse and there are costs involved. If you wish to help the WorldFoodGarden project grow stronger, please consider volunteering or making a tax deductible donation.

There are enough resources for everyone on Earth, so long as we show each other how to use them. The more gardeners and gardening orgs that add gardens to the map, the more potential "cross-pollination" will happen, of ideas and gardening knowledge, to help each other grow healthy sustainable food. Please consider adding your garden to the World's First Map of Small Food Gardens.. Let the Garden Age Begin!!!
